Somewhere Between Here and Anywhere
Thread on linen in 5 panels, approx. 5 x 7 feet combined, 2003-2005.
The hand-stitched image is based on a set of deconstruction plans for an off ramp that once brought traffic into downtown San Francisco from Interstate 80. Bits of instructional text have been replaced with those describing fleeting observations, not unlike those observed from the window of a speeding car. The piece took over two years to complete.
